Steel Buildings – Simple purchase process
So the time has come: you’re going to buy your prefab steel building.
Congratulations!
It’s a great decision and we know your new purchase is going to serve you very well for many years to come.
So having made the decision… what happens next?
Assuming you’ve chosen to work with Allied, let us walk you through our easy process. It’s straightforward but if you have any questions we’re just a phone call away, so call us – we’ll be delighted to help! 1.877.997.8335
STEP 1 Basic Details
Step 1 is to take a quick look at our short but useful Steel Buildings First Time Buyers Guide so that you can be sure you’ve got some important details in place first. It’s really important you do all these things first because, if you do, you’ve helped ensure everything else goes much smoother from then on.
So if you haven’t already, just take a look at that guide now.
STEP 2 Contact Form
Once you’ve done that then step 2 is nice and easy. Fill in our contact form with some very basic details and we’ll schedule a call-back with you. The basic details you give us will ensure we’re prepared for the kind of building you wish to discuss and it means we’ll have necessary information to hand. Once you receive your quote, review it for inclusions and exclusions. Ensure you’ve included all required accessories, insulation, doors, louvers, ridge vents, etc. and send back an executed contract.
STEP 3 Place Your Order
Happy? Great! So step 3 is to place your order. At this stage we’ve had a good conversation, everything we need to proceed confidently is in place and you’ve had all your questions answered. So now we’ll start working on your approval drawings.
STEP 4 Approval Drawings
You’ll receive your approval drawings by email about a week or so later. So step 4 is to approve them or amend them as you see fit. If you’re approving the drawings as they are, just fill in the acceptance sign off on the stamp and email them back to us. You then move on to step 5.
If you wish to make amendments then print off the drawing, mark the changes in red ink then scan and send them back. If you have a program that will amend the drawings directly then use that. If you don’t have the means to do either of these then make notes of what you’d like to change in an email, then call your project manager and he or she will handle this for you.
You’ll receive fresh approval drawings in light of these amendments plus an amended price where required. Once you’ve approved these new drawings you move on to step 5.
STEP 5 Permit Drawings
Permit Drawings have one specific job to do: they must satisfy the requirements of your local building department so that they issue you a permit for your new building.
With your drawings we will send you your Fabrication Release Form. You must read this carefully and, if you’re happy with everything it contains, sign it and return it to us. This will authorize us to move into fabrication.
STEP 6 Construction Drawings
Once we’ve received your Fabrication Release Form our in-house detailing teams get to work. Our engineers create the drawings that our fabrication teams will use to create your building. They’ll also draw up the Construction Drawings that will guide the building erector (which will be you or your own contractor) in the assembling of your new prefabricated steel building.
The construction drawing set contains the “Anchor bolt for construction” plans that will be FINAL. You can hand these to your concrete engineer for foundation design and anchor bolt specification.
Finally, we’ll create the shipping list that details every piece and component that will go together to create your building.
At this point we will determine the completion date for your building and schedule the delivery date.
STEP 7 Delivery
We’ll notify you of your delivery date and send you your delivery documents.
STEP 8 Delivered!
When your prefab steel building arrives at your specified location you will be asked to pay the final Cost On Delivery charges to the delivery driver. The building components will then be ready to be unloaded. We’ll have already discussed unloading instructions with you so everything is in hand.
And that’s it – you now have your building and, once assembled, you can use it as intended!
However…
It’s not over between us though! If you have any questions or issues with any aspect of your steel building get on the phone to us right away and we’ll assist you.
