Ft Lauderdale, January 1, 2025 — Last year Allied Steel Buildings, a leading manufacturer of Pre-engineered Metal Buildings and Customized Hybrid Steel Structures, proudly appointed Franz Mutis as Vice President of Engineering. With an illustrious career spanning over two decades in the engineering sector, Mr. Mutis has brought a wealth of expertise and leadership to his new role, which has been integral in expanding Allied’s engineering team.
Mr. Mutis’s extensive professional background most recently includes co-founding a Texas-based engineering firm specializing in designing building systems for the commercial and industrial sectors. During his tenure as that company’s Director of Engineering, Mr. Mutis oversaw the design of over 2,500 buildings, including several contracted by Allied.
Allied’s growth as a key account since 2020 led to the eventual acquisition of the metal building division this year. Recognizing Mr. Mutis’s unique talent and expertise, Allied was pleased to invite him to lead the integration of his team and its engineering expertise into Allied’s key processes.
Prior to co-founding the engineering firm, Mr. Mutis held key leadership and engineering positions at a a Fortune One Hundred’s Buildings Group, overseeing the production and performance of buildings within that company’s petrochemical facilities around the world.
At Allied, Mr. Mutis’s responsibilities will encompass integrating engineering processes, fostering collaboration with external partners, and refining project management methodologies to ensure the seamless execution and delivery of projects. His leadership will be instrumental to Allied’s growth and success as the company approaches another milestone in its history as a leading global steel construction company.
Allied’s highly anticipated new fabrication facility in McGregor, Texas will provide new opportunities to develop leading solutions for engineering systems and processes that optimize production. From an engineering perspective, the plant’s first-in-the-world fully automated robotics system will drive new considerations for how buildings are designed, marking a departure from traditional steel manufacturing systems.

In addition to his extensive professional experience, Mr. Mutis holds a Master of Science in Construction Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He is a registered Structural Engineer and Professional Engineer across multiple states.
