We Don’t Fear Tight Timelines

Time was of the essence when Graycor Construction contacted Allied Steel Building as a prospective steel supplier for their latest project. The client’s issue was straightforward; they had a preliminary design in place but the steel supplier that they had planned to source steel from wasn’t able to meet their required timeframe. Enter Allied and after a single call, they felt confident that we had the vision and know-how to deliver exactly what they wanted within an aggressive timeframe.

Ask and We Will Deliver

In collaboration with the client’s engineering, construction, and project management teams, Allied found solutions for a number of design considerations that needed addressing. The end user, a Plastics Manufacturer, required a building that could accommodate a crane plus other large machinery, as well as for the new building to tie into an existing structure. Extra load considerations had to be made for oversized pipelines carrying electrical cable and water across two large portions of the building. With some creative problem-solving and fast thinking, we designed and engineered a solution that checked all the boxes within a window that would have been a feat for us mere years ago. An unrelenting appetite to grow and improve is what gave Allied the architectural and engineering knowledge that made it all possible.

Exceeding Expectations, One Building at a Time

With a full proposal and scope outlined, an order was in within 30 days of Allied’s initial call with the client. Consisting of fairly standard components including a pre-engineered steel frame,and accessories, the custom building’s biggest challenge revolved around its tight deadline with the added complexity of integrating pipe racks and crane rails into the client’s design in record time. True to our mission, we were able to optimize efficiency at every key stage, allowing us to exceed the client’s delivery expectations. In fact, by honoring our January 2023 delivery date, which the client later admitted they hadn’t ever believed was possible, we were ready to deliver before the client was ready for us!

Installation began March 2023. Our pride in what we do comes from creating structurally-sound buildings that exceed customer needs and expectations, which in this case was being ready to deliver before the client thought was possible, especially after others said it was impossible.
