A Striking Steel Warehouse in Colon Logistics Park
Project Details
Logistics Park Warehouse. Allied Steel Buildings’ first venture in Colon, Panama began when our client expanded into the Colon Container Terminal- the region’s leading transshipment hub. Eager to fortify their operations in the region, the company had their sights set on developing a series of warehouses in the port’s adjacent Colon Logistics Park.
After dedicating months to seeking out the ideal steel building designer and manufacturer, the project’s general contractor contacted Allied, citing our regional reputation for reliability. Setting Allied apart was our track record of high quality work and ability to meet demanding deadlines, but also our commitment to presenting clear solutions and end-to-end support – a holistic approach that resonated with the client’s expectations.
Fast-Tracking Fabrication
The design process began in early 2019 and after three months of finessing the client’s specifications into the optimal structural design, fabrication was in full swing. Despite the immense scale of the warehouse and challenging timeline, Allied optimized the fabrication schedule and was able to deliver on time, even while accommodating last minute design changes. Drawing from decades of experience in working as a team on the most challenging timelines, Allied communicated and coordinated with purpose to ensure there were zero gaps in the design, fabrication, and delivery. By June, the building’s components were ready for delivery.
We’re With You Rain or Shine
Though installation started off rocky due to relentless heavy rainfall during crucial months, Allied provided continuous support with frequent site visits, seeing the project through to completion on time. The culmination of these efforts revealed a striking warehouse with an eye-catching façade of Insulated Metal Panels (IMP) in four colors, complemented by IMP roof panels, unique pop-outs, and a custom-designed gutter system. Though challenging, accommodating changes to the design were worth the push, resulting in aesthetics beyond what is typical for warehouses and metal buildings, while surpassing the client’s expectations.

Notably, this warehouse marks Allied’s inaugural venture in Colon, paving the way for other future opportunities.
Despite its challenges, this project provided Allied the opportunity to demonstrate the resourcefulness that we are known for and the value of our commitment to being with our clients all the way.
