Ft Lauderdale, January 1, 2025 — Heading into the New Year, Allied Steel Buildings, a global leader in Pre-engineered Metal Buildings and Customized Hybrid Steel Structure, reflects on the many milestone moments of 2024 and their positive impacts on growth, development, and change across our company.
Our team’s significant expansion over the last year notably included the appointment of Larry McGlothlin as the company’s Director of Manufacturing Technology. With over three decades of experience in the pre-engineered steel building industry and a strong background in software consulting, Mr. McGlothlin is now overseeing Allied’s optimization of Metal Building Software (MBS), an industry-standard software that streamlines the estimation, design, detailing, and fabrication processes.
“Larry’s exceptional expertise and dedication to innovation make him a valuable addition to our team,” said Michael Lassner, CEO at Allied Steel Buildings. “His unique blend of industry experience and software consulting will play a crucial role in driving manufacturing excellence and supporting our continued growth.”
Mr. McGlothlin’s thirty-year tenure in the steel building industry has allowed him to gain invaluable experience across diverse roles including operations manager, steel building broker, and certified welding inspector. In 2015, he founded Apland Consulting, where he assisted some of the largest companies in the industry with using MBS and implementing customized solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency.
In 2021, Mr. McGlothlin began consulting for Allied Steel Buildings, where his expertise in optimizing MBS and integrating data from Allied’s Master Builder into the software made him an invaluable asset that Allied sought to bring in house by late 2023. Mr. McGlothlin has since been supporting the company’s cutting-edge new fabrication facility in McGregor, Texas which has presented unprecedented opportunities to explore how these programs can help drive automation. The plant’s first-in-the-world fully automated robotics system marks a departure from traditional steel manufacturing systems and Mr. McGlothlin is eager to explore how to integrate these systems to unlock new levels of innovation.
“At Allied, innovation isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a way of life,” said Larry McGlothlin. “With a relentless work ethic driving every endeavor, we redefine excellence at every turn, propelling ourselves toward unprecedented success.”
