Senior Estimator (Construction)

Job Description

Allied Steel Buildings is searching for an experienced estimator to provide technical expertise and cost-effective design solutions to its domestic and international sales divisions. This individual will be responsible for project take-offs, conceptual development and estimating of pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) and structural steel projects, project specifications review, and preliminary value engineering.

Responsibilities

• Modeling, designing and estimating complex building structures; both in pre-engineering and structural steel buildings
• Preparation and delivery of technical presentations to aid sales team with relevant value engineering approaches
• Review of project specifications and drawings
• Meet with sales teams, customers, internal technical teams, architects, and all relevant parties of prospective projects
• Works with internal and external project parties to perform value engineering analyses
• Prepare professional conceptual and scope drawings for use by sales teams, customers and internal engineering department teams
• Provide technical guidance, monitoring adherence to customer requirements

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge and experience with pre-engineered steel building designs
• Extensive experience estimating highly complex pre-engineered steel structures
• Experience with MBS modeling software, including high complexity features
• Experience with AutoCad for the preparation of scope and conceptual drawings
• Able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches various configurations of building structural framing
• Technical certification: Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent industry experience
• Effective clear communicator; both verbally and in written formats
• Preferred but not required: bilingual in Spanish
