Job Description 

We are looking for a Production Scheduler who will work in a collaborative team with project managers, engineers, and factory floor supervisors to plan, schedule, implement, and monitor production activities, ensuring contract requirements, product specifications, and deadlines are met.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and coordinates work with and of appropriate department staff so that projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
  • Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.
  • Review contract specifications, drawings, sales orders, and other project documents to understand requirements.
  • Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and acquire additional supplies as needed.
  • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.
  • Maintains master distribution schedule for the facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
  • Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.
  • Works hands-on within the department as a production member.
  • Coordinates hardware testing with quality assurance staff.
  • Prepares workforce projections and budget estimates based on a summary of labor hours and material costs for each job.
  • Identifies requirements for packaging and shipping.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education – High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate degree+ preferred. 
  • Experience – 5+ years of production scheduling and strong knowledge of steel fabrication and quality control. Practical experience reading fabrication and construction blueprints.
  • Computer Skills – Strong knowledge of BIM and CAD software plus ability to read technical drawings. (Other programs such as Tekla, STRUMIS, etc.)
  • Certificates and Licenses – PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) preferred.
  • Language Ability – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization.
  • Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
