Successful Partnership with TechnipFMC Leads to Further Growth in Guyana

For those reasons, Allied was thrilled to be asked to help build the TechnipFMC Guyana Subsea Services Base in the McDoom district of Georgetown, Guyana. TechnipFMC has been active in Guyana since 2016, but this project, along with the hiring and training of 27 Guyanese employees, solidifies the company’s commitment to economic growth in the area. Equally passionate about the mission, Allied handled the entire process—from concept to delivery to the Guyana jobsite.

The Structure

The steel building is almost 30,000 square feet, with jib cranes attached to each of the columns. The edifice will support the company’s current subsea project crew operations and is located in the Stabroek block, approximately 120 miles offshore Guyana. The company broke ground in February 2019, and in less than six months, the building was completed.

The Biggest Challenge

Unequivocally, the biggest challenge of this project was the fact that we were faced with significant supply-chain issues as a consequence of the global pandemic. Steel scarcity and escalating prices of various other materials posed a real threat to both the timeline and budget. However, Allied and TechnipFMC worked very well together, and the cooperation between the two companies ultimately translated to a quick and successful completion of the project.

Allied has delivered over 24 structures in Guyana for companies such as Atlantic Marine, Schlumberger & Baker Hughes.
